Equine Psychotherapy Services

Let the horses at Transitions Equine offer you a powerful journey of personal growth and development.

Horses possess a powerful ability to heal and to teach. They offer friendship and playful companionship while giving instant, genuine and observable responses to their interactions with people. Horses are intuitive and perceptive which makes them skillful as therapeutic guides. These highly social beings provide insight into our behaviors, belief systems and emotional functioning as individuals and in group interactions.

Horses play an important role within the therapy session because horses help facilitate self-awareness in a deep and powerful way. They have no expectations, motivations, or prejudices. They offer people opportunities for growth not easily found elsewhere:
  • Challenging people in a non- threatening manner.
  • Rapidly breaking down defense barriers
  • Provides immediate cause and effect situations
  • Promotes positive change out of non-functional behavior patterns

Transitions utilizes therapy teams which include an EAGALA trained Equine Specialist, a licensed mental health professional and the horses, of course!  The equine specialists and therapists are trained to help people see in themselves and others what the horses see so easily.

Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) is an experiential therapy where interactions with horses is used to promote emotional growth, learning and healing in people. Individuals participate in activities with horses and then discuss the feelings, behaviors and patterns they experience to learn more about themselves and others.

As an adventure based activity,
Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) is similar in its approach to ropes courses. Because EAL incorporates these live, dynamic and powerful animals as co-therapists, it offers an added dimension and advantage. EAL does not involve horsemanship or riding. The  activities with horses require the individual or group to apply certain skills such as:  non-verbal communication, assertiveness, creative thinking and problem-solving, leadership, work, responsibility/accountability, teamwork and relationships, confidence and positive attitude.

Corporate Training sessions are tailored to your organization's needs and goals.  Experience professional growth and appreciation for your colleagues and have fun doing it!
